چکیده

Foodborne diseases are indisputable risks to human health, as they directly affected by the consumption of food and beverages exposed spoiling pathogenic microorganisms. A commonly confronted issue industry is use synthetic additives control microbial growth on products. Alternatively, plant essential oils (EOs) natural compounds with antimicrobial effects against pathogens in edible drinkable Based bacteriostatic bactericidal activities, this review describes EOs Listeria monocytogenes, also indicating their potential applicability different Conclusively, it determined that Gram-positive bacteria have more susceptibilities EOs. In addition, antibacterial efficacy reported literature varied according several parameters, including seasonal harvest plants, well-settled methodologies for extraction EOs, experimental conditions testing effect L. matrix considering types foodstuffs. This later represents main challenge be addressed future research aiming at specific applications

Essential oils of thyme and Rosemary in the control of Listeria monocytogenes in raw beef

This study was developed in order to evaluate two alternatives for the control of Listeria monocytogenes in raw bovine meat pieces, both based on the use of Thymus vulgaris and Rosmarinus officinalis essential oils (EOs). The antilisterial activity of different concentrations of the EOs was tested in vitro using agar dilution and disk volatilization techniques. In addition, L. monocytogenes was...

Plant-based intervention strategies for Listeria monocytogenes control in foods

Listeriosis is a severe human disease caused by two potentially pathogenic listerial species: Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii. In particular, the risk of contamination can be significantly high in refrigerated ready-to-eat foods, due to the limited use of traditional antimicrobial barriers. Moreover, Listeria spp. is widely disseminated in the manufacturing environment and can cont...

Detection of Listeria monocytogenes in foods

Listeria monocytogenes is a gram positive, facultative intracellular pathogen with the capacity to cause food poisoning outbreaks as well as severe illness in vulnerable human population groups. It can cause a rare but serious disease called listeriosis with high fatality rates (20–30%) compared with other foodborne microbial pathogens. Although Listeria monocytogenes is infective to all human ...
